Abstract
Convergent evidence has emerged over the past decade to highlight the role of manganese as a key player in the defenses that many organisms are building to fight oxidative stress. For redox processes replacing iron by manganese requires adaptation at different levels. The aim of this perspective is to summarize recent important observations and to analyze the implications of the present knowledge for resolving future issues.Entities:
