Abstract
Study of 80 anatomical preparations and CT of 130 patients has shown that the ilio-pectineal bursa may be non-communicating, communicating or septate. Under certain morphological and pathological conditions the ilio-pectineal bursa may be visible on CT. Amongst these is the presence of fat or calcium in or around the bursa. Effusions into the hip joint may make it possible to identify the bursa on CT, even when it is non-communicating. A posterior arthrocoele of the hip joint is described and its CT appearances are demonstrated.Entities:
