Abstract
A new dimeric acylphloroglucinol derivative, andinin A (1), was isolated from the underground plant parts of Hypericum andinum, along with three known dimeric acylphloroglucinols, uliginosin A (2), uliginosin B (3), and isouliginosin B (4). The structure of 1 was elucidated using 1D and 2D NMR and MS experiments and by comparison with previously reported data for Hypericum dimeric acylphloroglucinols. Andinin A (1) displayed antidepressant-like activity in a mouse forced-swimming test when administered orally at doses of 3, 10, and 30 mg/kg.Entities:
