Abstract
BACKGROUND: Trauma remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in resource limited countries. There is paucity of published reports on trauma care in Tanzania, particularly the study area. This study was carried out to describe our experiences in trauma management outlining the etiological spectrum, injury characteristics and treatment outcome of trauma patients at our local setting and compare our results with those from other centers in the world.Entities:

Note: Tetanus is caused by Clostridium Tetani, a gram positive, anaerobic and spore forming bacterium which is found in soil and in animal and human faeces and the usual mode of entry is through open wounds. The diagnosis of tetanus is wholly clinical and based on the presence of one or more of the following:-
1. Trismus.
2. Rigidity of the neck and or abdomen.
3. Reflex spasms.
