Abstract
BACKGROUND/AIMS: The red-blood-cell distribution width (RDW) is a newly recognized risk marker in patients with cardiovascular disease, but its role in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has not been well defined. The aim of the present study was to determine the association between RDW values and the level of fibrosis in NAFLD according to BARD and FIB-4 scores.Entities:

RDW and overall odds ratio of having advanced fibrosis (BARD score of 2.4 and FIB-4 score of ≥1.3)
Q1: RDW quartile 1 (≤12.30), Q2: RDW quartile 2 (12.31-12.60), Q3: RDW quartile 3 (12.61-13.00), Q4: RDW quartile 4 (≥13.01), Cases 1: cases of BARD score 2-4, Cases2: cases of FIB-4≥1.3, Model 1: odds of having advanced fibrosis (BARD score 2-4) and RDW, not adjusted. Model 2: odds of having advanced fibrosis (BARD score 2-4) and RDW, adjusted for age, sex, Hb, MCV, hsCRP, history of smoking, history of diabetes, and history of hypertension. Model 3: odds of having advanced fibrosis (FIB-4 score ≥1.3) and RDW, not adjusted. Model 4: odds of having advanced fibrosis (FIB-4 score ≥1.3) and RDW, adjusted for age, sex, Hb, MCV, hsCRP, history of smoking, history of diabetes, and history of hypertension.
