Abstract
BACKGROUND: Resistance to ESAs (erythropoietin stimulating agents) is highly prevalent in hemodialysis patients with diabetes and associated with an increased mortality. The aim of this study was to identify predictors for ESA resistance and to develop a prediction model for the risk stratification in these patients.Entities:

* ESA Resistance Index.
Cut-off values: Q1 < 4.19; Q2 (4,20-6.64); Q3 (6.65 – 10.11); Q4 > 10.11.
Patients in the upper ERI quartile were defined as ESA resistant.
