Abstract
Recent development of analytical techniques to monitor the coating process of pharmaceutical solid dosage forms such as pellets and tablets are described. The progress from off- or at-line measurements to on- or in-line applications is shown for the spectroscopic methods near infrared (NIR) and Raman spectroscopy as well as for terahertz pulsed imaging (TPI) and image analysis. The common goal of all these methods is to control or at least to monitor the coating process and/or to estimate the coating end point through timely measurements. Keywords: Coating; Film thickness measurement; NIR spectroscopy; PAT; Raman spectroscopy; Terahertz pulsed imaging
