Respiratory insufficiency following chloral hydrate sedation in two children with Leigh disease (subacute necrotizing encephalomyelopathy).

Abstract

Oral chloral hydrate sedation in children is safely used prior to cross-sectional imaging. We report two children with Leigh's disease who developed acute respiratory insufficiency following high dose oral chloral hydrate sedation.
