Abstract
BACKGROUND: Osteonecrosis of the jaw (ONJ) is a medical condition associated with antiresorptive drugs, among others, used to treat osteoporosis and bone metastasis. Currently, there is no consensus regarding the definition of ONJ, and no ONJ-specific International Classification of Diseases-10 code exists. Therefore, register-based studies of this condition may be troublesome.Entities:

Number of confirmed cases divided by number of potential cases;
confidence interval calculated using binomial exact method;
potential cases with two different ICD-10 codes included in the algorithm.
Abbreviations: PPV, positive predictive value; CI, confidence interval; ONJ, osteonecrosis of the jaw; ICD, the International Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems.
