Yield, molecular weight distribution and sugar composition (mol%) of the polysaccharides from the skin juice, gel juice, and flower of A. vera purified after gel permeation chromatography. Hyphen denotes values that were not detected. ND, not determined. aPercentage weight of crude polysaccharides recovered. bPercentage mol of total carbohydrate content. cPolysaccharide was hydrolyzed in 2 M sulfuric acid at 100 °C for 8 h. Absorbance at 530 nm was measured according to the m-hydroxydiphenyl method, and the amount was calculated as galacturonic acid.
