Abstract
It has long been assumed that miRNAs can only target protein-coding mRNAs in the cytoplasm. Recent studies, however, reveal miRNAs are also transported from the cytoplasm to the nucleus, where they function in a noncanonical manner to regulate noncoding RNAs.
