Abstract
Determining the nature of the viral genome is one of the first steps in characterization of any new virus. However, in the case of viruses with a single-stranded genome, it is not always simple to identify its orientation. In this study, a rapid, sensitive and simple PCR-based method is described to identify the strand orientation of single-stranded viral genomes. This method has been tested on the single-stranded DNA viruses, M13 and phiX174.Mesh:
