Abstract
BACKGROUND: Dyspnea is among the most common reasons for emergency department (ED) visits by patients with cardiopulmonary disease who are commonly asked to recall the symptoms that prompted them to come to the ED. The reliability of recalled dyspnea has not been systematically investigated in ED patients.Entities:

Time 0a: dyspnea at time of decision to come to ED recalled at enrollment during ED visit.
Time 0b: dyspnea at time of decision to come to ED recalled 1 hr after enrollment during ED visit.
Time 0c: dyspnea at time of decision to come to ED recalled at follow-up visit 4–6 weeks after ED visit.
Within-subjects differences in mean scores for Immediate Perception vs. Emotional Response domains

aPositive within-subjects differences all indicate that mean domain scores for Immediate Perception > Emotional Response.
