Abstract
Homonymous field defects cause reading and orientation disorders. The reading disorder depends on the size of the macular sparing, the side of the field defect (unfavorable in reading direction) and spontaneous adaptive mechanisms. Methods which support compensation strategies should be recommended as evidence-based training procedures: optokinetic training with scrolled text for reading disorders and saccade training for orientation disorders. By optimized utilization of the total field of gaze, general exploration of the environment, reaction times during search tasks and quality of life can be improved.Entities:
