Abstract
OBJECTIVES: The irreversible airflow limitation characterised by chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) causes a decrease in the oxygen supply to the brain. The aim of the present study was to investigate brain structural damage in COPD.Entities:

COPD, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Figure 5Statistical maps of group comparison of fractional anisotropy (FA) value on a voxel-wise basis (results of Tract-Based Spatial Statistics). The group's mean FA skeleton (green) was overlaid on the Montreal Neurological Institute template. The threshold of mean FA skeleton was set at 0.2. Patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease show significantly lower FA value than healthy controls (p<0.05).
