Binocular vergence influences the assignment of stereo correspondences.

H A Mallot1, H Bideau.

Abstract

A modified version of the double-nail illusion was used to measure the influence of binocular vergence on stereoscopic matching. The method is more sensitive than previous procedures and allows quantitative results for various stimulus markers. The results show that matches in the fixation plane are strongly preferred over matches with high disparities.
