A piperidine chiron for the Veratrum alkaloids.

Abstract

A Veratrum piperidine chiron was prepared over 11 steps (7.9% yield) from (-)-citronellal. Three methods for the installation of the propargylic side chain onto a cyclic enamide are presented.
