Figure 2Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves associated with the area under the curves depicted in Table 3. ROC's are displayed for the scoring systems measured at a single time point (APACHE-II(), SAPS-II(), MPI() compared to the reference line ()) and for sequential scoring systems (MODS(), SOFA(), APS() compared to the reference line ()) measured at day 1 and at day 2.
Performance of scoring systems, moderately predictive for 'ongoing infection needing relaparotomy' (AUC > 6.0; SOFA day 2 and APS day 1), in selecting patients for relaparotomy using a cut-off value based on a 90% sensitivity.
