Abstract
BACKGROUND: There is growing interest in the anesthetic approach using total intravenous anesthesia (TIVA) with propofol and remifentanil for the prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV). The aim of this study was to compare between the two anesthetic techniques for preventing PONV in the patients undergoing mastoidectomy with tympanoplasty.Entities:

Total experience score: sum of all scores, total occurrence score: 1 + 4 + 6 + 7 + 8, total distress score: 2 + 3 + 5.
Patient Characteristics
The values are shown as means ± SD or number of patients. There were no significant differences between groups.
Rhodes Index of Nausea, Vomiting and Retching (RINVR) and Incidence of Complete Response
The values are shown as means ± SD or number of patients. *P < 0.05 between two groups.
