Abstract
Nine strains of Bacillus popilliae and Bacillus lentimorbus KLN2 contain N6-methyladenine in GATC sequences, as determined by using the restriction enzymes MboI and DpnI. Among eight other Bacillus species examined, all, except one strain of Bacillus brevis (ATCC 9999), lacked adenine methylation in GATC. A methylase with Escherichia coli dcm site specificity was not present in any of the Bacillus species studied.Entities:
