Abstract
I factors, transposable elements related to mammalian LINEs, are responsible for I-R hybrid dysgenesis in Drosophila melanogaster. Although they are not structurally related to retrovirus-like transposable elements, they appear to move around the genome via reverse transcription of a full-length RNA intermediate. The mechanism and control of this process are now being dissected at the molecular level.Entities:
