Geriatrics in the residency program.

R C McDonald.

Abstract

Geriatric health care delivery in Canada is in danger of being sequestered into a traditional specialty category. This paper suggests that geriatrics is predominantly a primary care discipline and is therefore within the expertise of the family physician. Education objectives for a geriatric rotation within a family medicine residency program are outlined.
