Practical Approach to Syncope: Identifying causes and underlying conditions.

E R O'Brien, A S Tang.

Abstract

The family physician plays an important role in the management of patients with syncope. Clarification of the history, combined with knowledge of the pre-existing medical condition and therapies, will help in deciding whether a serious underlying condition, such as cardiac disease, contributed to the syncopal episode. Whenever possible therapy should be based on objective data.
