Abstract
BACKGROUND: Toll like receptors (TLRs) signaling pathways, including the adaptor protein Mal encoded by the TIRAP gene, play a central role in the development of acute lung injury (ALI). Recently, the TIRAP variants have been described association with susceptibility to inflammatory diseases. The aim of this study was to investigate whether genetic variants in TIRAP are associated with the development of ALI.Entities:

SNP, single nucleotide polymorphism; OR, odds ratio; CI, confidence interval.
Pa, allelic P value; Pb, genotypic P value.
* The adjusted P-value and OR in multiple logistic regression after adjustment for clinical variables.
A P-value of < 0.01 (0.05/5) was considered statistically significant after Bonferroni correction. Rs595209 and rs8177375 remained significant after Bonferroni correction.
Figure 1Linkage disequilibrium plot of five single nucleotide polymorphisms in . We constructed the plot with the Haploview program [27], and r2 (×100) values were depicted in the diamonds. The color code on the plot follows the r2 scheme: r2 = 0, white; 0 < r2 < 1, shades of grey; r2 = 1, black.
