Helicobacter pylori in gastroduodenal disease.

R J Loffeld1.

Abstract

Helicobacter pylori is a recently described Gram-negative micro-organism, which plays an important role in the pathogenesis of peptic ulcer disease and gastritis. In this paper an outline is given of the history and the pathophysiology of Helicobacter pylori, as well as the therapeutic studies aimed at eradication of the bacterium in various clinical entities.
