Abstract
Parastomal herniation is a postoperative complication after colostomy or ileostomy with an incidence rate of 0-48.1%. Its repair is indicated in approximately 10-15% of cases; however, this surgery has been associated with a significant degree of morbidity and recurrence. We describe, for the first time in literature, an experience using a new technique, and a new type of mesh. This new type of laparoscopic parastomal hernia repair appears to be easier and faster. The follow-up was about 240 days. Our preliminary experience in using this technique and mesh appears to be possibly leading to a reduction of recurrences and complications. Randomized multicenter studies are required to assess the true effectiveness of the technique.Entities:
