Abstract
The enantiomers of omeprazole and some of its analogues have been separated on a chiral stationary phase comprising trisphenylcarbamoylcellulose coated on 3-aminopropyl silica. The nature of the supporting silica has a crucial effect on the separations obtained. The racemisation half-life of omeprazole was estimated to be 1.3.10(2) h at 37 degrees C. In vitro tests on isolated gastric glands from rabbits showed that both enantiomers of omeprazole had an inhibitory effect on acid formation.Entities:
