Abstract
BACKGROUND: Pancreatic cancer is one of the most aggressive human tumors due to its high potential of local invasion and metastasis. The aim of this study was to characterize the membrane proteomes of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) cells of primary and metastatic origins, and to identify potential target proteins related to metastasis of pancreatic cancer.Entities:

Figure 1Analysis and identification of membrane proteins in AsPC-1 and BxPC-3 cells using a proteomics approach based on SDS-PAGE, in-gel digestion and LC-MS/MS. (A) Membrane proteins were isolated, separated with SDS-PAGE and detected with Simply Blue stain. The gel bands were then excised and digested with trypsin, and the resulting peptides were extracted for LC-MS/MS analysis. (B) 221 and 208 proteins were identified from AsPC-1 and BxPC-3 cells, respectively, with 109 proteins present in both cell lines.
