The Immunoproteasome Cleans up after Inflammation.

Sjoerd van Deventer1, Jacques Neefjes.

Abstract

Immune cells and cells activated by the inflammatory cytokine interferon express variant proteasomes called immunoproteasomes that are characterized by unique catalytic subunits. Seifert et al. (2010) now show in mouse models of inflammatory disease that immunoproteasomes help prevent the accumulation of harmful protein aggregates. Copyright 2010 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
