Treatment of cervical carotid artery stenosis.

S Yoshimura1.

Abstract

SUMMARY: As treatment for cervical carotid artery stenosis, medical treatment, carotid endarterectomy (CEA), and percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) with/without stenting are known. In this report, we review the history and current status of these treatments. Comparison between CEA and PTA/stenting is further discussed based on recent clinical reports and evidence.
