Model 1 is adjusted for age and sex. Model 2 is adjusted for age, sex, height, and weight (ln). β-Coefficients represent the increase (positive values) or decrease (negative values) in the trait per addition of minor allele. SNPs are ordered by effect size as reported by the Genetic Factors of Osteoporosis Consortium (8) or Ref. 6 for rs3018362.

The P value from a metaanalysis of the two samples is shown along with the direction of effect observed in the original BMD GWA studies. β-Coefficients represent the increase (positive values) or decrease (negative values) in the trait per addition of minor allele. A positive or negative value in the right column indicates the direction of effect observed in the original GWAS study. The aBMD standardized effect sizes were taken from the Genetic Factors of Osteoporosis Consortium (8) or Ref.6 for rs3018362. All are for the association with lumbar spine aBMD except for rs3018362, rs2010281, and rs1513670, which are the standardized effects for the association with femoral neck aBMD.
P < 0.05.

An association was observed in the ALSPAC and GOOD samples, but in the opposite direction to that observed for BMD in the GWAS.
