Abstract
BACKGROUND: Smoking cause airway and systemic inflammation and COPD patients present low grade inflammation in peripheral blood. However, data on the influence of smoking itself on systemic inflammation in COPD patients are scarce. Differences between groups were tested using one way analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by the Tukey test to account for multiple comparisons. Differences between proportions were tested using Chi-square.
