Abstract
BACKGROUND: Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is composed of cardiovascular risk factors including insulin resistance, obesity, dyslipidemia, and hypertension. Most of the components of MetS have been linked to the development of neoplasm. Figure 1Prevalence rate (%) of hyperplastic polyp, low-grade adenoma and high-grade adenoma according to the number of components of metabolic syndrome. The prevalence of both low-grade and high-grade adenoma increased steadily with the cumulative number of components of metabolic syndrome.
