Angiogenesis, lymphangiogenesis, growth pattern, and tumor emboli in inflammatory breast cancer: a review of the current knowledge.

Peter B Vermeulen1, Kenneth L van Golen, Luc Y Dirix.

Abstract

This objective of the current review was to provide the reader with a comprehensive summary of the literature related to 3 important and inter-related features of the biology of inflammatory breast cancer (IBC): angiogenesis, lymphangiogenesis, and the formation of tumor emboli. Information derived from animal models of IBC as well as from translational studies using tissue samples of patients with IBC are discussed. Copyright 2010 American Cancer Society.
