Abstract
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) synovial fibroblasts produce inflammatory mediators, which destruct cartilage and bone in RA joint. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of myricetin on inflammatory cytokine/matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) production and mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) in IL-1beta-stimulated SW982 synovial cells. Myricetin significantly decreased IL-1beta-induced production of IL-6 and MMP-1 in synovial cells. Moreover, myricetin diminished the phosphorylation of Jun NH2-terminal kinase (JNK) and p38 MAPK. These results suggest that myricetin reduces the production of MMP and IL-6 in SW982 cells by inhibiting MAPKs (JNK and p38). 2010 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.Entities:
