Abstract
BACKGROUND: Ghana has not conducted a national tuberculin survey or tuberculosis prevalence survey since the establishment of the National Tuberculosis Control Programme. The primary objective of this study was therefore to determine the prevalence of tuberculin skin sensitivity in Ghanaian school children aged 6-10 years in 8 out of 10 regions of Ghana between 2004 and 2006.Entities:

Figure 1Distribution of tuberculin reaction sizes by region, in children with reaction size >0 mm.

Figure 4Relationship between regional notification rate (per 100,000 inhabitants, 2000-2002) and the annual risk of TB infection (ARTI) per district, as estimated by using a cut-off point of 15 mm. District notification rates were not available therefore regional rates were used.
