Figure 1Isochronal mapping of focal (A) and macroreentrant (B) tachycardias. The activation time-scale is color coded with the white followed by red color denoting the earliest sites of activation and the purple the last activated site. Figure A shows the centrifugal activation from the mid-crista of right atrium in a patient with atrial tachycardia of focal mechanism. Only 116msec could be mapped in the right atrium while the tachycardia cycle length was 286ms. Figure B shows mapping of right atrial macroreentrant tachycardia. The tachycardia cycle length was 236ms. 220ms (>90%) of the flutter cycle length could be mapped in the right atrium. The wave-front propagation pattern, which is perpendicular to the isochrones, suggests typical flutter in this case.
