Abstract

PURPOSE: To report on a patient in whom hyperopic Implantable Collamer Lenses (ICL, STAAR Surgical, Nidau, Switzerland) and limbal relaxing incisions have been beneficial for the correction of hyperopic astigmatism after laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK).
METHODS: The 48-year-old man had undergone LASIK to correct high myopia 5 years earlier. Preoperatively, the manifest refraction was +2.25, -1.00 x 160, with an uncorrected visual acuity of 0.15 and a best spectacle-corrected visual acuity of 1.5.
RESULTS: Postoperatively, the manifest refraction was +0.50, -0.5 x 165, with an uncorrected visual acuity of 1.0 and a best spectacle-corrected visual acuity of 1.2. No serious complications were observed during the 10-month observation period.
CONCLUSION: Hyperopic Implantable Collamer Lenses implantation combined with limbal relaxing incisions may be an alternative for the treatment of hyperopic astigmatism after overcorrected myopic LASIK.
