Abstract
Specific cholecystokinin (CCK) receptor and gastrin receptor antagonists were used to assess what role, if any, these receptors have in autocrine cell growth. Although the cholecystokinin receptor antagonist, L-364,718, inhibited cell proliferation in a broad spectrum of cell lines, the gastrin antagonist, L-365,260, had no effect on cell proliferation. In addition neither added gastrin17, nor sulfated cholecystokinin8, could reverse the inhibitory action of L-364,718. It is proposed that L-364,718 inhibits cell proliferation independently of classical gastrin/CCK receptors.Entities:
