Abstract
Pregnant rabbits were treated with ciprofloxacin alone or with gentamicin in a model of Escherichia coli chorioamnionitis, and the results were compared with those for untreated rabbits. The survival rate increased and the bacteremia decreased significantly in treated fetuses in comparison to controls (P = 0.003). Nevertheless, rapid selection of resistant mutants is a major limit to ciprofloxacin applications.Entities:
