Abstract
Urethral erosion is a rare complication after the tension-free vaginal tape (TVT) procedure. Surgical management of this complication is challenging due to the potential for significant patient morbidity. A 50-year-old patient presented with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) and incomplete voiding, 6 years after a TVT procedure performed for stress incontinence. An attempt at cystoscopy revealed an almost complete occlusion of the urethral lumen by a urethral erosion of the polypropylene mesh. A transurethral resection was performed under tactile traction. This procedure is a minimally invasive approach that avoids the need for a transvaginal procedure. Careful cystourethroscopy should be performed in patients presenting with new lower LUTS after TVT in order to avoid a delay in diagnosing a mesh erosion.Entities:
