The meaning of spirituality among nonreligious persons with chronic illness.

Eileen Creel1, Ken Tillman.

Abstract

A phenomenological approach was used to uncover the meaning of spirituality for 11 nonreligious participants with a chronic illness. Spirituality for these participants was revealed through the themes of beliefs, spiritual awakening, and spiritual enhancement. This study supports each person as uniquely spiritual with spiritual needs that could be enhanced.
