Abstract
An outbreak of central venous catheter-associated bloodstream infections was reported in a hospital in Ecuador. Commercially produced ampoules of water for injection were found to be contaminated with Burkholderia cepacia and Myroides odoratus. Removal of these ampoules yielded a 10-fold reduction in the incidence of catheter-associated infection.Entities:
