Abstract
We describe obliteration of the rectal lumen during stapled haemorrhoidopexy in a patient with marked mucosal prolapse. The complication was recognised immediately and continuity was restored by performing a limited Delorme's procedure. The possible cause of this complication is explored and serves as a reminder that meticulous technique is required when performing stapled haemorrhoidopexy to prevent potentially disastrous complications.Entities:
