Abstract
This paper summarises the current knowledge on the effects of medullary reaming of long-bone fractures. Following a review of intramedullary vascular physiology, the consequences for vascularity, the autograft effects, the generation of heat, and fat embolism are outlined. Also, alternative reaming techniques are described.Entities:
