Abstract
The vaginal contraceptive ring is comprised of ethinyl vinyl acetate that releases ethinyl estradiol and the third-generation progestin, etonorgestrel. It was approved by the Food and Drug Administration in 2001. The vaginal contraceptive ring is highly efficacious with a Pearl Index of 1.18 and an efficacy of 99.1%.
