Orthognathic surgery and a tale of how three procedures came to be: a letter to the next generations of surgeons.

Hugo L Obwegeser1.

Abstract

Although the transoral sagittal splitting of the ramus, the osseous genioplasty, and the LeFort osteotomy today are common procedures used by many specialties to solve a broad range of problems, this was not always so. This article describes Hugo Obwegeser's firsthand experience of how these procedures came to be.
