Abstract
Gene regulation by two-component systems has traditionally been studied using assays that involve averages over large numbers of cells. Single-cell measurements of transcription offer a complementary approach that provides the distribution of gene expression among the population. This chapter focuses on methods for using fluorescence microscopy and fluorescent proteins to study gene expression in single cells.Mesh:
