Abstract
Emerging data reveal that besides degrading proteins tagged with ubiquitin, the proteasome plays a more varied and decisive role in cellular regulation than previously imagined. In this issue, Hanna et al. (2007) expand our view of the proteasome by showing that under certain conditions, proteasome composition can be altered to control ubiquitin homeostasis.Mesh:
