Abstract
Human macrophages express an Fc receptor for IgA (FcalphaR, CD89) but so far no mouse counterpart or an alternative IgA receptor has been found. Given the biological importance of IgA in countering infections, and the extensive use of mouse experimental models for passive and active prophylactic strategies, it is somewhat surprising that this subject has received relatively little attention.
